A scale model of an Aveling & Porter steam tractor, highly detailed and exceptionally well made. It's an old engine which hasn't been run for many years, I suspect it was built by somebody who either owned the full-sized engine or had access to it - it's another of those engines that, the longer you look at it, the more you see. Other than draw your attention to the miniature tax disc fitted in front of the cylinder block which I think is brilliant, I'll let the picture do the talking for this one rather than blathering on about it.
Boiler is in copper with seven, fairly large bore tubes. It looks to be in good condition, but we haven't tested it or run the engine, which turns over smoothly but is fairly stiff simply through years without use and a layer of dried up oil everywhere. The engine could certainly be recommissioned for use, however it's not the ideal thing for hacking about the back garden with.
