A 2 1/2 inch gauge 2-8-0 Austerity to LBSC's "Austere Ada" design, serialised in "Model Engineer" 1943/44 - I think it's attractive in an, er, austere sort of way (but then I like the look of the WD 2-10-0 that's just come in as well). Not a chance of getting it in the house though, definitely not Mrs P's sort of thing.
This one was built by a highly prolific engineer and boilermaker whose work has featured here before, runs nicely on air, has a sound boiler and looked excellent on the bookshelf until recently displaced by a pair of Roundhouse engines which Claire decided looked nicer in her office.
Silver soldered superheated boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by axle pump with a hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valve actuated by Walschaert's gear with screw reverser in cab.
Hydraulic test 29-3-2011 @160psi
Length
Locomotive 21 inches
Tender 14 inches
