First one of these we've ever had (indeed seen), a 2 1/2 inch gauge New Zealand Railways KB class 4-8-4 - bit of a monster of thing in full size, rear bogie incorporated a steam which has been recreated in the model.

The engine is grubby, it looks to have spent a lot of years stored in its purpose built crate which houses both locomotive and tender. Underneath the grime, the engine is well made and finely detailed - chassis rolls along freely and looks ready to run. There's a beautifully made silver soldered copper boiler with combustion chamber and two superheater flues.

Complete with drawings and "Model Engineer" articles about the design dating from 1956.
