An older engine, well made in the first place it remains in good condition. Motionwork and valve gear show good fit and finish, the platework is neatly executed.
The combustion chamber boiler has had a preliminary twice working pressure hydraulic test which showed up a handful of stays showing beads of water - these would take up under steam - but no apparent leaks or structural issues. It will need cladding removed for thorough inspection before certification could be issued, but we would be happy to warranty as sound.
On air the chassis runs down to low speed - nicely in reverse, slightly choppy forwards although, as usual, we would expect that to improve on steam.
