A well-built 2 inch scale Fowler DCC road locomotive - more usually seen in flamboyant Showmans form, to my eyes the half canopy and understated Fowler black livery make for a more quietly impressive engine.

The work of a highly experienced engineer who, in retirement has built a wide variety of stationary engines, locomotives and traction engines. Now well into his nineties, he continues to develop designs for, and build, small steam pumps which occupy most flat surfaces in his sitting room!

Â
Unused in some years, we've steamed the engine following boiler test in the works. The boiler, by Cheddar, is in good condition, the engine runs well forwards, not so good in reverse. Safety valves accumulate and will require servicing before further use.

Â
Rather grubby, with a used patina to the paintwork, however underneath there is a finely made engine.
