A box full of bits for a 2 inch scale Durham & North Yorkshire traction engine to John Hainings design. Work to date comprises:
Part-built tender
Rear wheel rims machined, one fitted with strakes
Front wheels built complete with axle
Flywheel machined, bored and keyway cut
Complete set professionally cut gears
Cylinder block machined to fit boiler
Set laser cut hornplates
Crankshaft machined, keyways cut
Silver soldered copper boiler - made to a reasonable standard although lack of heat in some places hasn't done much for solder penetration, it will require a further cook-up.
There are a variety of unmachined castings, a set of laser cut spokes and strakes (the strakes suffering from surface rust which comes off easily) and a complete set of drawings. Castings are available from Blackgates Engineering, there are pictures of a finished specimen on the archive. I've had several of these, I find it an attractive engine and, as with all Hainings designs, steams particularly well.
