A venerable specimen of the 0-6-0 tank engine design
produced by Bassett Lowke and intended as a large, robust garden railway
performer – they claimed it would haul sixteen adults, which in those days of
sending small boys up chimneys was probably considered acceptable, in these more
enlightened times it would be considered cruel and unusual treatment of a 3 ½
inch gauge tank engine.
Originally nicely made, it now needs a thorough overhaul
– the motionwork is worn and paintwork is dire.
Complete with previous boiler certificates, a Bassett Lowke
booklet about the engine and a wooden carrying crate.
