Believed by the last owner to be the mortal remains of a 3 1/2 inch gauge Bassett Lowke 4-4-2, this engine has had a long and not altogether happy life. Starting out as a water-tube boilered live steamer, at some stage it has had most of its innards removed, probably to convert to electric motor drive. No sign of that now, the boiler is still intact and complete with fittings, rear wheels missing, there is a cylinder block with it which looks the right sort of vintage although slightly narrower than the frames (which may themselves have been replaced).
In the right hands it is just about salvageable and would make a handsome engine (whilst giving you the priceless satisfaction of undoing decades of vandalism!).
