A 3 1/2 inch gauge BR 9F 2-10-0 to the LBSC/Evans design serialised in "Model Engineer". A first attempt at locomotive building by a man who went on to build other engines in 7 1/4 inch gauge - such was his enthusiasm to get on with the next project that the 9F, was steamed once on completion at the local club, since when it has sat on display in his house.
Silver soldered boiler, flue tube superheaters, 80psi working pressure. Feed by injector and axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaerts gear with screw reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
The engine is complete with drawings, construction manual, builder's notes and photographs of its first outing, and a functional Dexion carrying cradle.
