A 3 ½ inch gauge Hunslet to Martin Evans' "Conway" design which builds up into a large engine for the gauge, similar in size, weight and pulling power to the smaller 5 inch gauge tank engines. The engine was completed in 2007 and has been run at the owner's club since.
Silver soldered superheated copper boiler, working pressure 80psi, feed by injector and axle pump – the injector is set up to feed from a remote water tank, the axle pump feeds from the saddle tank. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser in cab, mechanical lubricator.
Sam had this one in steam on Saturday, it runs well and is particularly free-steaming – an easy engine to drive.
