Anno domini has now dictated a move to smaller gauges with lighter, easier to handle engines, so "Linda" has come back to us in part exchange for a pair of Aster gauge 1 locomotives.
Condition is unchanged from last time it was here - pictures opposite and words below are from last year.
A 3 1/2 inch gauge Penrhyn Class Hunslet 0-4-0ST, works number 589 "Linda". The original locomotive was built in 1893 as one of a class of three engines for the Penrhyn Quarry Railway in North Wales.
All three survive - "Linda" and "Blanche" have been in service at the Ffestiniog Railway since the 1960s, their sibling "Charles" is a static exhibit at the Penrhyn Castle Museum (well worth a visit if you're out that way, they have some interesting full size locomotives including "Fire Queen", several good models and an excellent tea room!).
The work of an experienced engineer, with one of the finest 5 inch gauge Great Western Manors we've seen to his credit, the Hunslet was completed in 2019 - it remains in excellent mechanical condition.
