A finely made and detailed 3 1/2 inch gauge LNER L1 2-6-4T, commission-built in 1977 it remained in pristine condition occupying pride of place in the owner's hall until earlier this year (when it moved to my office, where it still resides). Test steamed when new - apparently before it was painted - the engine is in as-new condition throughout.
Commercially-built silver soldered copper boiler by John Short, 80psi working pressure, feed by twin axle pumps. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's gear, screw reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
Fit and finish of machined parts is good, it runs well on air and is finely detailed with dummy air pump, mechanical and wick-feed lubricators. It comes complete with a small bag of tools including firing irons and pump handle, along with a piece of display track.
