A well-advanced, if long in gestation 3 1/2 inch gauge "Rob Roy" to the Martin Evans design.
The commercially built boiler was supplied new by Morewood in 1983 and is complete with manufacturer's original test certificate (typewritten, on headed paper - those were the days!). In the intervening 35 years the locomotive has got to a stage where it's mainly platework and a few fittings to complete.
By 1996 it was ready for its initial twice working pressure hydraulic test at the club, at which time it was stamped up with a club boiler number on the backhead and a certificate issued.
At some stage it has been test-steamed, although from colour and condition of firebox it can't have been more than once or twice.
We reckon at current rate of progress there can't be more than another fifteen years work to complete.
No point in being hasty about these things...
