A well-built example of an LMS "Royal Scot", nicely detailed and with the handsome Stanier tender which replaced the rather diminutive Fowler item originally fitted to the class.
Silver soldered copper boiler with superheaters, feed by axle pump, injector and auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Working pressure 80psi, twin safety valves. Two cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert's valve gear, mechanical lubricator behind front buffer beam, screw reverser in cab, steam brakes.
There is much nice detailing - dummy Wakefield lubricators on the running boards, ejector on the smokebox and crosshead vacuum pump. It runs very smoothly, partly I'm sure due to the weight - apart from "Mons Meg", I think this must be about the heaviest 3 1/2 inch gauge passenger locomotive I've ever had, I would estimate getting on for 100 pounds for the engine without tender. It comes complete with a set of firing irons, safety valve setting tool and a robust fitted wooden case for the locomotive with carrying handles.
