3 1/2 inch gauge nineteenth century American 4-4-0 to LBSC's "Virginia" design - a nicely made engine with rather more detailing than we normally see.
Silver soldered copper boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by injector and axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear with pole reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
At some stage in its history the boiler has been part stripped for hydraulic test, with fountain removed and water gauge blanked off. Good news is boiler is sound - we've hydraulic tested it here in the workshop - and the engine runs well on air. Bad news is fountain has long since disappeared, so there's a Saturday morning's work making a new one and plumbing it in.
