An early stage 3 1/2 inch narrow gauge 0-4-0ST, to Martin Evans' "Conway" design, heavily influenced by the locomotives Hunslet supplied to the North Wales slate quarries.
Work to date is to a good standard, and includes:
- Erected frames
- Axle pump and pump stretcher
- Driving wheels and axles
- Flycranks
- Valve and pump eccentric sheaves, straps and rods
- Gunmetal cylinders, end covers, valve chests, pistons and rods
- Expansion links and trunnion blocks
- Weighshaft with lifting arms
- Profiled connecting rods with little end bushes fitted, big ends to be machined and bushed
- Handbrake column, handle, screw and operating lever
- Reverser stand
- Smokebox assembly with chimney
- Stainless steel ashpan and grate
- Commercially built boiler by R.Chambers, complete with regulator, firehole door and all fittings
- Various smaller parts and unmachined castings, including dome and crossheads
An attractive design, it comes out somewhat larger than an "Alice" class quarry Hunslet - one of the nicest we've had was sold way back in 2009, there are pictures in the archive here if you need some inspiration.
