A finely made 3 inch scale Burrell, one of six, built in three batches of two by Keith Massey - this is one of a pair he kept. It's seen light use since completion in 1979 and is in excellent mechanical order - it runs particularly well, there's a clip of Jon running around the yard with it here.
Silver soldered copper boiler, 100psi working pressure, feed by injector and mechanical pump. Cast iron cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser. Mechanical lubricator and Pickering type governor mounted on the cylinder block. Two speed, three shaft transmission with differential, winch behind nearside rear wheel with fairleads on tender.
Another super model by this most capable of builders - the machining is impeccable, detailing superb (look at the locknutted and split-pinned main bearing caps and the smokebox "Burrell" door ring, with individually fretted out letters pinned to backing ring), it goese as well as it looks.
