3 inch scale Clayton steam wagon - stock code 6161

A 3 inch scale version of Robin Dyer's popular Clayton steam wagon, built in 1985 by an experienced engineer (he was also responsible for the 3 inch scale Burrell we've got in at the moment) - the builder had it tested by his club on completion which is the last time it ran. In the intervening years the paintwork has acquired some minor scratches and the straps that hold the back axle up if the engine is lifted have gone awol.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 125psi working pressure, feed by injector and mechanical pump driven from the crankshaft, auxiliary double-acting hand pump in the cab. Twin cylinder engine with slide valves actuated by Allen valve gear, pole reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator. Single speed transmission, chain-drive to rear axle with differential. The wagon runs on rubber tyres, with Ackerman steering.

The articulated trailer has leaf springs, runs on rubber tyres and has a quick-detach coupling to the ball hitch on the wagon.
