A finely-built Ruston Proctor SD tractor in 3 inch scale - had them in
2 inch,
4 inch,
6 inch and
full-size before, but never seen a 3 inch one, this one makes the complete set!
Sprung both ends, as per the prototype, the engine runs particularly nicely - it's a lovely thing to drive, steam freely and runs along very well with clear, square exhaust beats.
There's a short video of it running here in the yard.
We've fitted the regulator with a PTFE-faced valve - this is a routine job we do for engines that come in with leaking regulators; the replacement valve providing both an effective seal and also a much lighter, smoother action which makes driving a nicer experience (Connor is our regulator expert - he'd just finished machining one up and fitting it to the
7 1/4 inch gauge Duchess that went out last week when the Ruston landed on his bench).
Complete with a driving truck and a pair of curious looking traction engine lamps (mercifully quickly detachable).
