One of the nicest Bassett Lowke traction engines I’ve
seen, this one came from a gentleman who bought it new as a kit in 1962.
He assembled the engine, made a fine fitted wooden box for it and used it
occasionally before storing it away, complete with its original instruction
leaflet. Now, well into his eighties, he’s decided to go 2 ½ inch gauge –
this has gone to make way for the new project.
Spirit fired, the engine shows the typical darkening of
paint at the firebox end of the boiler – it’s otherwise in excellent
condition throughout.
