The commercially-built, CE-marked boiler by John Rex Model Engineers has had internal inspection and ultrasonic survey followed by hydraulic and steam tests in recent days, with new certification issued.
The rubber tyres remain in good condition, showing little sign of wear. Considerably quieter than steel strakes for road work, they also have the advantage of slightly raising the gearing.
The paintwork, hand lined and signwritten, was done to a high standard originally and remains in excellent condition.
The engine runs very well, ticking over quietly at rest and pulling strongly on the road, the tender-mounted cast iron seat and light steering making it a delight to drive.
Offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil; we would be more than happy to give half a day's instruction on the steaming, running and disposal of the engine to a new owner if required.
