The commercially built boiler by Franklin & Bell dates from 1995, however the engine wasn't finished until some years later and has, apparently, had very little use since - it's in excellent mechanical condition, the hand-lined paintwork remains in ex-works condition.
The boiler has had recent cladding off inspection, with ultrasonic thickness survey followed by hydraulic and steam tests - in first class condition, it looks like new inside.
We've fitted a new water valve and Holroyd injector supplied by Steam Workshop - our thanks to them for getting it out to us so quickly when the original injector proved unreliable. A beautifully made thing, it works reliably from 60psi right up to the 160psi working pressure.
The canopy is finely made, of planked construction, varnished inside - it removes easily for driving. There's a cast iron tractor seat for the driver mounted on the back of the tender - we like the sprung scale driver's seat just in front of it!
The engine steams and runs as well as it looks - there's some video of it running around the yard on our YouTube channel.
Supplied with firing irons, a starter kit of coal and water treatment, and 12 months warranty. If required, we would be pleased to give a half day's training in the firing, driving and maintenance of the engine.
