A well-built 0-4-0 tank engine at an advanced stage of construction although work stopped on it many years ago - it came from the workshop of a prolific engineer, we had several of his engines including the Vanderbilt-tender Rail Motor we sold earlier in the year (now completed and running).
Work to date comprises a chassis with gunmetal cylinders, slide valves actuated by Walschaert's gear, pole reverser, water pump, drain cocks and brakes all fitted. Steam and blast pipes are plumbed up. It's stiff to turn over although without tight spots - it basically needs stripping, cleaning and lubricating. Motionwork is punched up with numbers and "L"/"R".
Boiler is silver-soldered, with screwed and calked stays in the firebox. We've pumped it up to twice working pressure - aside from one bead on an outside firebox stay it is structurally sound and dry at the firebox, foundation ring and both tubeplates.
