A well-made large tank engine, based on the “Achilles”
design but stretched to an 0-4-4T.
Silver soldered copper boiler, feed by hand pump in bunker,
twin axle pumps and injector. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by
Walschaert’s gear, pole reverser in cab. Twin mechanical lubricators.
Motion work is in generally good order, paintwork is pretty
motheaten.
The engine is in running order although, whilst currently in
certificate, the boiler is going
to require work before its next inspection.
