It's come to us as part of a collection of 5 inch gauge locomotives and rolling stock from the family of the late owner, a long time customer of ours. We understand it's not run in some years, it arrived here with its last fire still on the grate.
On hydraulic test, whilst structurally sound, the boiler showed a number of leaky stays in the firebox and one longitudinal at the backhead end. Not sufficient to deter us from steaming it (we couldn't resist!), and watertight under steam as far as we could see.
The engine runs absolutely beautifully - dead square exhaust beats, although with slight blow by.
