A well-made example of Dick Simmonds' "Chub" design for a compact, easy to handle 5 inch gauge 0-4-0.
Silver soldered copper superheated boiler, feed by axle pump and injector with auxiliary hand pump in the side tank. Twin safety valves. Outside cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's valve gear with pole reverser in cab. Twin sight feed lubricators with oil tank beneath footplate.
In recent years this engine has fallen on hard times. At some stage recently it's had a fairly slapdash repaint, the lubricator plumbing needs new unions (and, ideally, the sight feeders putting somewhere a little easier to see than the front of the side tank) and several screws need replacing. Having said that, I drove it round at the club a couple of weeks ago, it's a willing enough worker which would repay a light mechanical and cosmetic overhaul.
Drawings and castings are still available both for "Chub" and its 0-6-0 stablemate "Butch" from GLR.
