Assembled from a Maxitrak kit by an experienced model engineer, this "Dixie" is new and unsteamed - it had a club hydraulic test whilst in build with certificate issued for same, it's otherwise in "ex-works" condition mechanically.
Silver soldered locomotive type boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by crosshead pump with auxiliary hand pump in the saddle tank. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Hackworth gear, pole reverser in cab, mechanical lubricator.
Paintwork is brushed finish, largely good with a couple of scratches that need touching in. The saddle tank has been neatly modified with a hinged flap for filling, obviating the need to remove the entire top as per normal.
A well-proven, popular design based on Kerr Stuart's attractive "Wren" class - several of which can be seen running in preservation - it's an ideal beginner's engine. Easy to fire and drive, it's modest size and weight make handling and transport a comfortable one man job.
