The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests, with new certification issued - it also has current club test certificates. All three water feeds - axle and hand pumps and an injector - worked well, the injector piped to pick up from a tank carried on a driving truck. The safety valve lifted freely and showed no signs of accumulation.
The mechanical lubricator on these engines is - unusually - driven from the trailing wheels, so doesn't work when running on a rolling road. If running on test for any length of time, you need to give the lubricator ratchet wheel a turn occasionally.
The axle pump leaks from the gland, there are various minor leaks from the left hand water tank - the right hand tank is a dummy.
The engine runs quite well in forwards gear - it was noted that the piston rod glands need repacking - but poorly in reverse.
