A finely built GWR "King" in 5 inch gauge, I bought it from the builder in 2005 whereupon it sold a day or two later before there was much of a chance to take any decent pictures of it, hence the highly abbreviated listing last time round (you can see it in the archive here). It's recently arrived back from a large collection where it has seen little use in the intervening years.
Silver-soldered copper boiler with superheaters, working pressure 100psi, feed by twin injectors with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Whistle mounted underneath tender. Four cylinders with piston valves, inner valves actuated by Walschaert's gear with rockers driving outside valve, screw reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator discreetly hidden under nearside running board with a dummy Wakefield lubricator mounted on the offside.
The engine is beautifully made throughout and finely detailed, right down to dummy washout plugs on the backhead and tea tin warming over the firebox. It runs pretty much exactly the way you would expect.
