We sold this one back in 2015 - it had come in as part exchange against a good rebuilt Royal Scot, we were impressed at that time by how well it went.
Recently back with us, currently dismantled with the boiler off the frames following discovery of pinhole leaks on the foundation ring - three on the back right hand corner, one on the left - which will require repair.
Pictures opposite, video and words below are from 2015, with a few taken recently of it in its current, dismantled condition - all parts to reassemble have been kept and are with the engine.
A well-sorted 5 inch gauge Black 5, originally built from a kit (one we supplied part-built some years ago in fact) with a ton of modifications and improvements, from the PTFE piston valve rings to extended controls at the rear of the cab for ease of driving. It's been in regular use, last steamed three weeks ago - the owner is a GL5 member, hence the mounts for detachable footpegs on the tender.
The engine is in fine condition with excellent paintwork; it proved free-steaming and ran well on the rolling road.
All the original boiler fittings - clacks, steam valves, water gauges, safety valves - have been replaced with high quality parts, there are lots of nice detail touches like fitting oil nipples in the rear axles to allow easy lubrication of the axleboxes.
