An exceptionally well-built LMS "Crab" to the Don Young design, unsteamed from new - exhibited at the London Model Engineer Exhibition in 2008, the locomotive was awarded a silver medal.
Silver soldered copper boiler by Swindon Boilers, four element superheater, 100psi working pressure. Feed by twin injectors with auxiliary hand pump in the tender. Cast iron cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaerts gear with screw reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator.
Pictures tell pretty much the whole story on this one - it's a beautifully made locomotive, one of the finest 5 inch gauge models we've bought this year. Fit and finish of the motionwork and valve gear is excellent, platework very finely executed and fitted. There is much added detail with castellated nuts and split pins in the valve gear, prototypical square drive return crank, sanding gear, tender water scoop and an exceptionally well fitted and piped backhead.
Complete with original boiler maker's documentation, silver medal and exhibition certificate.
