A 5 inch gauge LNER V1, to Martin Evans' "Enterprise" design, based on Gresley's large, three cylinder tank locomotives. This engine has had light use at the hands of the builder, remaining in first class mechanical order.
Silver soldered copper boiler with superheaters, 80psi working pressure, feed by injector and mechanical pump with hand pump in the rear bunker.
Three cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert's gear, with Gresley-Holcroft gear for the inside cylinder, screw reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator. Steam brake.
As with all the other engines from this collection, fit and finish is excellent throughout, the engine runs beautifully, detailing includes wick feed lubricators fitted to all axleboxes.
