An older engine, it has seen a good deal of use over the years - there is wear in the motion, the paintwork is getting towards the disreputable side of presentable.
Boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test - stucturally ok, with no signs of leaks or deflection. There is a minute pinhole leak in the safety valve casting which will need either drilling and plugging or calking. Other than that we would warranty the boiler as sound.
We've had the engine in steam this afternoon, it runs with some steam leaks from glands. Crosshead and hand pumps work fine, injector is hopeless.
The locomotive is as detailed underneath as on top, including working water scoop on the tender and beautifully cast ribbed cylinder end covers with tail rods.
