I sold one of these back in March – this one’s just
arrived in similar condition. Typical Don Young design, they steam well and are
easy to drive – the short tender makes it little more of a stretch than a tank
engine.
Silver soldered boiler, 80psi working pressure, feed by axle pump and
injector with a hand pump in the tender. Gunmetal cylinders with slide valves
actuated by Stephenson's gear with pole reverser in cab, twin hydrostatic
lubricators.
The work of a man who built many other stationary engines, traction engines
and locomotives – this one has been unused for some years but needs little
more than a good clean to be ready for action.
