A well-made example of a GWR Pannier tank to LBSC's
"Pansy" excellent "Pansy" design, I think one of his best in
5 inch gauge (although the "Maid of Kent" would run it close).
Silver soldered copper boiler, feed by axle pump and injector with auxiliary
handpump in the offside tank - pumps are set up to feed from the locomotive's
water tanks, the injector is plumbed to be fed from a separate tank carried on a
driving truck. Slide valves actuated by Stephenson's valve gear with pole
reverser in cab. Sight feed lubricator with regulator-linked supply valve as per
prototypical practice.
The engine steams freely and runs well. There is a (very) short clip
of it running here - concentrating on the engine earlier in the day I hadn't
noticed the video camera was on "standby" rather than
"record", so the ten seconds you see of it running down the straight
is as much as I captured.
