5 inch gauge Polly III with driving truck - stock code 5153

Probably the best-finished Polly I’ve seen to date, an immaculate Polly III completed in 2008 and used infrequently since – it was built to, and maintained in, a “show” condition with highly polished motionwork, immaculately executed paintwork in LNER Garter Blue (the builder has a fine reputation for his paintwork, you can judge the results for yourself both in the pictures below and those of his Britannia here) and brightwork maintained in a style that would gladden a Brasso shareholder’s heart.

Silver-soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by injector, axle and hand pumps. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson’s gear, pole reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator.

There is a matching braked bogie driving truck with water tank – the injector is set up to feed from this – with interchangeable bodies, one for ground level running, the other for raised tracks which includes a pair of quickly-detachable footboards.

A very fine example of a popular engine – you would look a long time for a better one (and I swear you’d never find a shinier one).
