An older engine, particularly well made originally and, judging by its mechanical and cosmetic condition, having had little use.
Standard of machining is very good, fit and finish excellent with motionwork stamped up for left and right, as per full-size practice.
The commercially made boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued - it's in good condition. The chassis runs on air, although with room for improvement in the valve setting, the regulator leaks sufficiently when closed for the wheels to turn.
Fitted with twin lubricators - neither are reliable, requiring stronger springs on the ratchet pawls - the grate and ashpan are missing.
Offered as an air-running engine, with work required to commission for steaming. A worthwhile project, it's one of the nicest Rail Motors we've seen in some years.
