The engine came to us having been unused for several years, requiring recommissioning.
The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued. Its water feeds are some of the most comprehensive we've seen, with twin injectors, twin axle pumps with individual bypass valves - allowing selection of either - and a hand pump. We've replaced one injector which was unreliable with a new Reeves 25oz job and fitted a new water gauge, the original having had repairs to its shut-off and blowdown cocks.
Finish of machined parts is to a high standard throughout, the platework is neatly formed and fitted.
The engine steams freely and runs particularly well, notching up in either direction - close to mid-gear running forwards.
A very nice, well-sorted locomotive - we like this one! It's offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil.
We would be more than happy to give half a day's instruction on the steaming, running and disposal of the engine to a new owner if required.
