The boiler has had hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued. The safety valves were unreliable in operation and have been replaced, along with the injector and its steam valve.
There are some well thought out features, including remote oilers for the axleboxes which remove the need to fiddle about trying to squirt oil between the wheel spokes.
On test the engine proved free steaming and ran well, keeping itself in steam and water without need of the blower on the rolling road. It will notch up in forwards gear and runs quietly in either direction.
Paintwork is presentable if plainly done in unlined black, with some wear typical of a working locomotives of this age.
The engine is offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil.
