5 inch gauge "Super Simplex" 0-6-0T - stock code 11940

A 5 inch gauge "Super Simplex", Martin Evans' update to his popular "Simplex" design, published in "Model Engineer" magazine in 1967.

This one has come to us from a long-time customer who believed it was an engine we'd sold many years ago, built as one of a pair. In fact, whilst we're sure it's not the same engine, we suspect it is by the same builder.

The engine is largely complete, unsteamed from new. It appears to have been run on air in the past, although a loose crankpin requires refixing before it can be run again. Work to complete includes provision of brakes (there's a brake stand in the cab but no brake gear), fitting a hand pump and piping up the axle pump.

The boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test with new certification issued.
