A well-advanced Ruston Proctor steam tractor to the Live Steam Models design.
Steel boiler with expanded tubes supplied new by the estimable Tony Baldwin at AJB Engineering complete with all documentation and CE mark plate. Cylinder block was machined by LSM, gears were commercially cut.
Work to date is to a good standard, everything turns over freely, there are some nice details like the stainless steel tender water tank.
There is a box of bits with the engine, including commercially made expansion link, unmachined castings for eccentric straps and a set of eccentric rods, along with the slide valve, piston rings and a variety of other bits and pieces.
The engine could be got to an air-running state for little extra expenditure other than time in the workshop, indeed it could be got into steam for the cost of a set of boiler fittings and a grate, all remaining work could be carried out on modest sized equipment.
If you need inspiration to carry on with this project, look no further than the superb example we sold back in October 2011 (you may have seen it on our stand at the Midlands Show that year).
