Another well-built locomotive from the Comrie Railroad stable, "Elikapika" (Hawaiian for Elizabeth, since you ask) is built along the lines of a plantation engine, a large engine with comfortable ride-in tender with capacious tank for water.
Silver-soldered boiler by Morewood, 90psi working pressure. Feed by injector and mechanical pump with auxiliary hand pump. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Walschaert's gear with pole reverser in cab. Mechanical lubricator. Fitted with vacuum brakes for train with gauge and driver's brake valve in cab.
A good-sized locomotive, built for the challenging circuit at Comrie and demonstrably capable of hard work. Like all the builder's engines, it is a thoroughly well-sorted machine with lots of nice detail touches - some for ease of maintenance including remote oilers for the axleboxes - others simply for atmosphere like the oil-fired headlamp. What better reason to venture out after dusk...
