An early stage 3 inch scale Hunslet chassis to Alan Ruston's "Elidir" design. Work to date is to a good standard and comprises an erected set of frames with wheels and axleboxes. The eccentric sheaves are machined and fitted, there's a set of part-machined eccentric straps, valve rod bushes and an embryonic set of expansion links by way of the slots milled out in a steel plate (which, in truth, is the difficult bit - the outer profile only has to look nice rather than do anything!).
For next to no expenditure other than some stock steel this project could see a rolling chassis with the valve gear completed.
More often seen to Milner's 4 inch scale design, a 7 1/4 inch gauge Hunslet in 3 inch scale is a rather more manageable size and fits easily into the back of a car - there are some pictures of an almost complete one I sold some time back in the archive. Reeves stock drawings and castings for the engine.
