A ModelWorks 7 1/4 inch gauge GWR Prairie, bought new as a retirement project by a garage owner, a motor mechanic in his working life.
Quite a lot of work was done until anno domini caught up with him - the engine has come to us from his son. It's about 90% assembled and comes with manufacturer's assembly instructions, boiler certificate and a box of parts to complete.
The engine has been stood on a (substantial) bookcase for some years since the builder's demise, chassis is unsurprisingly seized and will require a degree of work before use.
Â
Better known for their 5 inch gauge locomotives, we occasionally see the ModelWorks 7 1/4 inch Britannias and even one A4 which we sold a couple of years ago - I suspect the larger sized engines were made in small numbers.
We've had one other Prairie at an earlier stage than this which sold some years ago -
there are pictures in the archive - when it came in as part exchange against a Feldbahn.
