An exceptionally well made 7 1/4 inch gauge 0-6-0 saddle tank to Martin Evans' popular "Holmside" design. The work of an experienced model engineer, he also built the Class 37 we currently have in, his current project a fine 3 1/2 inch gauge Darjeeling & Himalayan Railway Class B which promises to be a fine locomotive when completed.
Silver solder copper boiler by Blackgates Engineering, 100psi working pressure, feed by injector and axle pump with auxiliary hand pump in the bunker. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser in the cab.
The engine was completed in 2009, it has had little use, its builder more interested in spending time in the workshop rather than on the track. It runs very well, virtually silent when notched up (there's a clip of it here), mechanically it's in as-new condition. Fit and finish of the motionwork is excellent, cab is well laid out and neatly piped.
