The work of an experienced engineer, the engine had a long gestation period, first started over twenty years ago. In the intervening years, time out from the project saw two LNER B1s and a super 5 inch gauge Stirling Single completed, with a Sharp, Stewart "Asia" currently on the bench.
The silver soldered copper boiler had its initial club shell test in 2018, with certification issued at that time. On completion last year it was tested and had club certification issued for hydraulic and steam tests expiring April 2026 and 2023 respectively - however on test in the workshop on arrival we noted a pinhole leak at the firehole door ring; not a structural issue and likely to seal up under steam, it will however require attention at some stage.
