We sold this one back in May of last year - it's recently come back in part exchange for a yet bigger 7 1/4 inch gauge locomotive. Words below are from 2014, pictures were taken by Claire yesterday. The engine remains in super condition, it now has an additional cutaway roof for ease of driving, we have the original for when you want to display it in the dining room.
A finely made 7 1/4 inch gauge LNWR George the Fifth 4-4-0, completed in 1996 and the subject of an extensive and well-documented reworking in recent years when owned and used by one of the country's leading commercial model engineers.
Silver soldered copper boiler, 100psi working pressure, feed by twin injectors. Cast iron cylinder with balanced slide valves actuated by modified Joy gear with pole reverser in the cab, mechanical lubricator. Steam brake on locomotive, vacuum braked tender with vacuum piped to front and rear of the locomotive. Tender has a screw-down brake, wheels have steel tyres.
The engine is well finished in LMS crimson lake with straw lining.
