A 7 1/4 inch gauge Stanier Black 5, professionally-built and delivered new in 2006.
Silver-soldered copper boiler by Swindon Boilers, superheated, feed by twin injectors. The tender is fitted with an inner tank, baffled to prevent surge and with a drain at the bottom.
Cast iron cylinders with piston valves actuated by Walschaert's valve gear with screw reverser in the cab. Twin mechanical lubricators. Steam engine brakes, vacuum ejector, driver's brake handle and gauge for train.
One of those occasions where there's not a lot of point waffling on about an engine. It's a beautifully built thing, a magnificent engine to look at and absolutely lovely to drive. It's virtually silent running, with only the driver on board it sets off with the tiniest crack of regulator.
There is some video of the engine running on a cold, though sunny afternoon last Saturday here.
If there's anything else you need to know, call me at the workshop (where I can look at it while I'm talking to you) and I'll enthuse a bit more.
