A 7 1/4 inch gauge Stirling Single - not the supremely elegant 8 foot 4-2-2 bogie single but its predecessor with 7 foot 6 inch drivers.

Unusual to see any Stirling single in 7 1/4 inch gauge, I can't remember seeing another 2-2-2. This came in recently as a part exchange from an experienced builder who has a 7 1/4 inch gauge B1 to his credit, with a Patriot nearing completion on the bench - he had acquired this engine in a non-running state and fettled it for running at his club, where its modest hauling capacity (in common with the full-sized prototype) and aversion to thirty foot radius curves relegated it to occasional use.

TIG-welded copper boiler, 90psi working pressure, feed by twin injectors. Cast iron cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser in the cab, mechanical lubricator.
