This one has come to us as part of a collection from a private railway in the South of England which included several fine locomotives (including the Manning Wardle "Chatham" we currently have in stock) as well as some good rolling stock.
The locomotive has been lightly used and well maintained over the years. In super condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, it's one of the nicest examples we've driven - a thoroughly well-sorted locomotive.
Since arriving in the workshop, boiler has had a cladding off inspection with thickness readings taken, internal inspection by camera and new fusible plug fitted followed by hydraulic and steam tests.
The locomotive is fitted with vacuum brake equipment for the train and tender which we found effective in operation. Draincocks are steam operated, closing reliably with a turn of the steam valve.
The engine is offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil. It runs, as you might expect, just as well as it looks with crisp, square exhaust beats and notching up close to mid gear in either direction - there's some video of it on our YouTube channel here.
We would be more than happy to give half a day's instruction on the steaming, running and disposal of the engine to a new owner if required.
